I am interested in the Romanov "story" and found this website very interesting. I find the canonization stuff quite ridiculous, though. In my view they were - despite Nicholas II. being the tsar and them being very extraordinary people - mainly a family murdered by the communists. There is no sense in murdering a family, and definitely no sense in murdering children. Canonization puts some sense into the murders (even if only the sense of "being martyrs"), and this saddens me. It takes something away from their deaths, even after the suffering they had to take. And then, even after their deaths, I think they are even "used" by some people (Monarchists) for their own interest. After all which has been done to them. I am also thinking they'd not have agreed to their own canonization. I am sorry, if I hurt the feelings of some people. But this is very personal to me as I am born in a night from a 16th to a 17th July. I am a believing person, BTW. But I do not want their pain and suffering

Amazing, This site has been so informative. I have been searching for the movie "Expiatory Punishment" for a long time, This site helped me get the title of the movie. And the Computer animated pictures of the Impative House are just bewitching. They can hold your glance forever. This site is so well designed, it will keep you clicking around even after you have read the site through. The ghost stories of the Ipatiev house are really good, and mystical. Never let this site fall. Let it tell the tale of the Romanovs for years to come.

Je suis actuellement en train de lire "Les aigles foudroyés" de Frédéric Mitterrand car ses reportages sur les Romanov m'avaient fortement intéressés. C'est par hazard que je suis allée sur le net voir si je trouvais des informations concernant cette famille (histoire d'en savoir plus). Je suis ravie d'avoir fait cette visite virtuelle, très instructive et digeste (contrairement à beaucoup d'ouvrages sur le sujet). This is a very interesting page. I've never seen some of the pictures you have here, like the floor plans of "The House of Special Purpose" nor the second depiction of the murder--not execution, but a gruesom, violent murder. But this place is a very unique and interesting page.

Une petite anecdote ,durant l'execution,les tireurs crurent a une manifestation divines en voyant les balles ricocher sur les grandes duchesses,il s'agissait en fait des bijoux de familles qu'elles avaient caches dans leurs corsages sur ordre d'Alexandra.

un site interessant qui pourrait etre un peu plus etoffe a mon gout ,un peu macabre peut etre mais la realite ne l'etait pas moins ,en effet les grandes duchesses ayant cache les bijoux familiaux dans leurs corsages sur l'ordre d'Alexandra les tireurs,en voyant les balles ricocher sur les duchesses crurent a la volonte divine ,ce qui n'empecha pas le massacre .Anastacia et Alexie auraient survecu,dur a croire dans le cas d'Alexie du fait de sa maladie.Toujours est il qu'on a retrouve que 9 corps sur 11...Par ailleurs qualifier Raspoutine de saint homme est carrement excessif,buveur,manipulateur,amateur de femmes et materialiste ,on peut par contre lui accorder une grande intelligence,triste histoire en verite.

thank you for this site. I've been fascinated in the last of the Romanov family since I was a child. However, after reading File on the Tsar by Summers and Mangold, I'm not convinced their deaths were quite as history relates. If they were all shot in that tiny room, how did the Red Guards escape the ricochet of bullets?
